Correction-based training has been used for many years and in many cases, is still practiced today.
It focuses on forcing a dog to comply to your commands by using punishment or other abrasive
tactics which are neither pleasant for dog or handler. New developments in dog training that
leverage positive reinforcement have resulted in much more effective and less stressful training
techniques which have been proven to develop a more predictable, reliable and happier dog. We do
not use pain, fear or intimidation to train your dog and you will not be required to buy any special
collars or training devices.
EPT or Enhanced Positive Training is a proprietary training method developed by Colleen McCarvill
through her experience in training hundreds of clients in both group and private training settings. EPT
is based on positive motivation and physical incentives such as responsive praise or exercises,
which are more reliable and effective ways to train your dog.
Awareness of Colleen's training success continues to grow and in addition to the many glowing
reviews and recommendations she receives from former students, she is also a trainer of choice for
an increasing number of veterinarians and dog kennels who value her experience and approach.
